Certified Instructors
Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Shelldrake instructors are highly qualified with a combination of almost 80 years of both recreational and military firearms training experience.
Federal and Provincial Courses offered
Canadian Federal Firearms Safety Course (aka Possession and Acquisition Liicence - PAL), Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course, and Alberta Hunter Education. Consultation services for safe firearms storage and disposal of unwanted firearms.
If you do not plan on owning a handgun then you do not need the restricted course, however in our experience it is preferable to have both.
On completion of the course you will receive a course report which is sent to the RCMP and will allow you to get your Possession and Acquisition Licence.

Course Information
Monthly back-to-back courses:
- CANADIAN FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (CFSC): $150 per student, including books and equipment
- CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARM SAFETY COURSE (CRFSC) the CFSC is the prerequisite. $150 per student, including books and equipment.
Both courses: $270 per student, including books and equipment.
SPECIAL OFFERINGS
FIRST NATIONS - We offer PAL courses to First Nations throughout Alberta and will tailor course delivery and timing to Band requirements. Please contact to arrange training on your Reserve.
PALADIN PROGRAM - Have guns (“training kits) will travel anywhere in the province of Alberta.” – you book the venue or even in your own home. I have the training kits and will travel for on site training sessions – minimum six students. Great event for clubs and social groups looking for a daylong activity- why not take the Canadian Firearms Safety course and get your firearms Possession and Acquisition License. LADIES WHO SHOOT THEIR LUNCH – WOMEN-ONLY FIREARMS TRAINING (no loud good ole boys, Rambos, or otherwise armchair firearms experts). This course is women-only with the exception of the instructor. Tailored for smaller groups with an emphasis on more hands on Firearms safety training.
SENIORS - Do you have firearms or ammunition in your home? Perhaps they are family heirlooms – how do you pass them on to your heirs? If you have questions about safe storage of firearms and ammunition, legal classification, donation, value or disposal, give me a call. I’d be happy to provide free advice on the current laws and requirements and to answer any questions you might have.
Politicians and Journalist in an effort to combat misinformation and to provide lawmakers and accredited journalists with the knowledge to correctly report and make informed decisions regarding firearm use in Canada I offer this course free. Please contact to get loaded on the PAL course.
